A launch is not the moment the designer says "done". It is the moment a stranger on a phone can find you, understand you and contact you without anything breaking. Run these twenty checks before you announce anything.

Content

  1. Business name, ABN, address, phone and hours match your Google Business Profile exactly.
  2. Every phone number is tappable on mobile.
  3. Prices are current and the currency is clear.
  4. Placeholder text ("Lorem ipsum", "Your text here") is gone from every page, including the footer.
  5. Spelling of suburbs, services and people's names is checked by someone other than the writer.

Function

  1. Every form has been submitted as a test and the message arrived where it should.
  2. The form reply goes to a monitored inbox, not the designer's.
  3. Every link works, including the logo link back to the homepage.
  4. Booking or ordering flows have been completed end to end.
  5. The site works in Safari on an iPhone and Chrome on Android, not just on a laptop.

Technical

  1. The address shows a padlock, and www, non-www and http versions all redirect to one secure address.
  2. Old URLs from a previous site redirect to their new equivalents.
  3. Page titles and descriptions are set for every page and describe the page, not the template.
  4. Images are compressed; the homepage loads in under three seconds on mobile data.
  5. A sitemap exists and has been submitted in Search Console.

Measurement

  1. Analytics is installed and a test visit appears.
  2. Form submissions and phone clicks are tracked as events.

Search and profile

  1. The Google Business Profile website link points to the new site.
  2. Social profiles link to the new site.
  3. The site is not accidentally blocked from search engines (a common leftover from the staging version).
